Meet Katharie, Your GI Dietitian
PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Katharie believes good nutrition is key to a healthy gut, mind and body. As an experienced digestive health dietitian, she shares her expertise and translates evolving science into simple recommendations. She uses a collaborative, holistic approach. She is committed to helping each client achieve their health goals and feel their best.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Trusted by clients and top medical providers, Katharie has nearly two decades of professional experience in Seattle. She earned her graduate nutrition degree from New York University. She received her clinical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She is a board-certified nutrition support clinician. She specializes in personalized medical nutrition therapy in food intolerances, digestive diseases, inflammatory conditions, and gastrointestinal surgeries.
Before founding her own practice, Katharie was the exclusive gastroenterology/ inflammatory bowel disease dietitian at one of the largest health systems in Washington, Providence Swedish. Having a multifaceted career, she also worked in inpatient care at teaching hospitals, from surgical intensive care to gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery units. Widely recognized as an expert in the field, Katharie revised and created hospital policies and procedures on nutrition support. She served on the national nutrition support committee and helped develop nutrition practice tools for federal clinicians at Veterans Health Administration.
Katharie has a passion for mentorship and education. She mentored entry- and mid-level dietitians. She has given nutrition didactics and talks to medical students, physicians and health professionals on complex subject matters including gut microbiome and food intolerances/sensitivities. Intrigued by recent advances in nutrigenomics and microbiomics, Katharie is now pursuing her nutrition doctorate and integrative medicine certification.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
Outside of work, Katharie is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher. She enjoys yoga, travel, learning about different cultures and cuisines, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
